I guess my main reason for writing this blog is it makes me upset, more like pissed off that some of my countrymen come here and forget where they came from. After a year in the US, I often hear from them that Philippines is "too loud, too dirty, etc."--little did they realize that if it weren't for their humble beginnings, they wouldn't appreciate all that they have NOW. I guess what I'm trying to say is I wish others would share their love for their country of origin, be proud of where they are from and grow with love and compassion for all. Instead, I see an image of self-loathing, I call it self-loathing if one seems to be ashamed or degrade their country of origin. FYI, each country as is each individual is not perfect. Instead of complaining of the Philippines' imperfections, love her unconditionally as she has loved You. It's like "do you remember the beauty of the Philippines?" Try and remember those happy times you did have in the Philippines. So here it is, for those few individuals who "forgot" their origin, I would like to remind You that Our "kababayan" (countrymen) are known for their down-to-earth hospitality, faith, perseverance, love of family and our cuisine; our love and zest for life--that anything is possible, which is why I'm sitting here writing this to You today; and most of all our grace, when we see anyone in need--WE ARE THERE TO HELP. So not all is lost, I hope.
There, I've said my piece and now I'm at peace once again. Till next time, I bid you all love, light and compassion.
